Sony PlayStation Portable launch delayed in Europe
Being successful can be a bad thing. Ask the European fans of the Sony Gaming Platforms, as they would now have to wait to get their hands on the massively successful Sony PlayStation Portable. Sony would be launching this much-awaited handheld gaming console in the big market of America in this month. This means, they have to be prepared to keep a constant supply without any delays.
This has led to the company deciding that they would be delaying the launch of PSP in Europe. The delay as per a statement of the company can last for many months, which would be a frustrating experience for Sony fans in Europe. The device went on stores in the home country of the entertainment giant Japan few months ago and has been a huge success in the market largely dominated by Nintendo consoles.
Sony is launching PSP in United States on March 24 and they have been unable to keep the pace with the demand in the existing markets. USA would prove to be a big test for them considering it is a huge market and consumers have already been waiting for many months now to get their hands on PSP. In fact, imported units of this gaming console were being sold at high premium on these online stores.
There is no date set for the launch of Sony PSP in the European market as the company plans to monitor the demand in USA closely. They released a statement saying: “It’s been deferred. We were originally hoping for an end of fiscal year launch, but now that’s not going to be the case. It is likely to be a matter of a few months rather than a few weeks — it’s a matter of allocation.”
