Capcom awarded top honors for Monster Hunter 2 (dos), Dead Rising and Okami by the Famitsu Awards 2006!
Capcom is pleased to announce that three of its titles, Monster Hunter 2 (dos), Dead Rising and Okami, have been honored with awards at the Enterbrain Inc. sponsored Famitsu Awards 2006.
The games under consideration for this year’s awards were games that had been released during the period of January 1st, 2006 through December 31st, 2006. Votes were cast by game players around Japan and the editors from the Famitsu Group of Enterbrain’s publications determined the final awards based on the votes received.
Monster Hunter 2 (dos) is a hunting action game released on the PlayStation®2 platform in February 2006. The Monster Hunter series is one of Capcom’s major franchises, having shipped a total of 4,000,000 units worldwide (as of April 20th, 2007). The recently released Monster Hunter Portable 2nd is the first PlayStation®Portable (hereafter referred to as PSP®) title to reach one million units sold in Japan.
Dead Rising is a popular survival action game that was released in September 2006 for the Xbox 360™ console. It quickly went on to become a hit overseas, shipping one million units worldwide just half a year after launch, and with the success of Capcom’s first next-generation title it has demonstrated its game development prowess.
