Sony to launch a 80 GB version of Playstation 3
In what could be seen as too little too late effort from Sony, they have announced their plans to launch a 80 GB version of their Playstation 3 gaming console in the South Korean market.
A company representative added that they are also considering plans to bring this model to their other markets including the United States.
Sony currently offers their Playstation 3 console in two options. One comes with a 20 GB hard disk while the more expensive version features a 60 GB hard disk.
Satoshi Fukuoka, spokesman for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. spoke about this new development: “Increasing capacity for models is one of the options. We make such decisions depending on the needs of the market, and every country is different.”
Incidentally, an 80 GB hard disk would not impress the customers much as Microsoft recently launched their Xbox 360 Elite edition which features a bigger 120 GB hard disk.
Sony added that they would launch this new model on June 16 in South Korea.
