Sony preparing for Halo 3 release in September
If there is one game that Xbox 360 gamers are waiting for since the launch of the console, it’s Halo 3. Microsoft has confirmed that the game would be launched this coming September 25.
Microsoft vice president Peter Moore spoke about Halo 3 at the announcement party: “‘Halo 3′ is much more than a video-game release; it’s the biggest entertainment event of the year.”
He added: “We intend to deliver a finale that will go down in entertainment history.”
The company has also given the gamers a taste of what is coming up by starting a multiplayer beta test of the game on Xbox Live. This beta testing is limited to few gamers though some of whom got the invite by purchasing a copy of “Crackdown”.
The beta testing would continue till June 10 this year.
Sony has now said that they are going to challenge this upcoming gaming title which can potentially change the market scenario for both the company by launching some Playstation 3 exclusives.
The company also showed more than 30 upcoming gaming titles for their PS3 console which is struggling against both Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox 360.
Some of these titles were “Ratchet & Clank Future,” “Heavenly Sword” and “Lair” along with the war game “SOCOM Confrontation” and the bizarre “Pain”.

Okay now lets get one thing right I am 21 years old I have been playing games since I was like 4 or 5 years old. I know how these console wars will play out. And you know what it wont be decided by which console has more power. Or what movie format they support that has nothing to do with games. I own a DVD player thats anuff for me. It will all come down to one simple thing GAMES who has more and whos are better (as in fun gameply). Thats why PSO was such a bad ass. They killed Sega. Nintendo are tough cookies they refuse to quit. But that said they are not a real challenge to Sony’s might, the only one that stands in their way is Xbox the only console to ever give Sony a run for their money. Like when XBOX came out I dont know if any of you who owned both consoles like me noticed that games for both consoles the Xbox ones had a little better graphics. But did that make Xbox top dog hell know. Sony overwhelmed them with games too many to count thats why PS2 came out on top. But that said Xbox had a good first run they did take some ground from Sony. And my friends thats what will decide this war is games who will make more. Not movie formats or better graphics. But all in all I’m glad to see this conflict between two Giants It will give rise to some awesome games on both sides. Because only thru conflict can we get stronger. And that applys for game consoles as well.

Ok, wow, to #47, you say things nice, but you are utterly wrong. If you were right the 360 wouldn’t be outselling the PS3 4:1, and Halo 3 wouldn’t have 4 MILLION preorders from GAMESTOP ALONE. The PS3’s online is horrid, you can’t even find your friends. Those bashing on Halo 3’s graphics are utterly wrong as well. Your statements are based off of a beta that Bungie almost certainly dumbed down the graphics for. Why should they show off their graphics when the point of the beta is testing their maps GAMEPLAY, which is amazing. PS3 has almost no exclusives at this point. And again to 47, MGS4 is 90% coming to 360 as well. Plus 360 has Mass Effect, which could very well beat Halo 3 in my opinion. Gears 2, Bioshock (PC too I know but not PS3), Shadowrun, Forza 2, Project Gotham 4, Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon etc etc etc. and the 360 took Assassin’s Creed, Devil May Cry 4, Haze, and most likely MGS 4. Say what you like. I DON’T CARE.

I mean i think the 360 > than ps3 and all…but some of you ms fanboys are unbeleivably stupid. and the ps3 fanboys too, while we’re at it. halo 3 does not suck. it may be your opinion that it does, but the general market doesnt agree, so kep your frickin opinion to yourself. ps3 isnt going to die like the dreamcast. its got a lot of good games coming out, and it may actually do very well. does it really take a wii-boy to step in and clean this up? Halo is the game that represents 90% of all morons and for the other 10%… Well, they too are out of control. PS3 will win and the Xbots are afraid. SOCOM and MGS will make each one of you remember exactly how small and insignificant your Halo truly is.

And once again, your opinion does justify itself, FACTS DO. remind me again again how many LESS PS3s have sold than the xbox 360? as mentioned above, halo 3 has sold 4 million PRE-ORDERS. thats probably more than MGS will sell total. It is really stupid that fanboys think their opinion justifies fact, when it doesent. PS3 is a good console, but at this point, IT IS NOT BETTER NOR IS IT SELLING NEARLING AS WELL. To #60 Xbox 360 has outsold the PS3 by about 8 million, 11 mill to 3 mill.
And by the way Halo 3 has more PRE-ORDERS THAN THE PS3 HAS SOLD CONSOLES that says something.

I have both a Nintendo Wii & PS3 . I originally purchased an xbox 360 and it overheated and broke within 3 days. When I went to return the 360 @ Future Shop , there were a number of other people there returning 360’s as well. Apparently they are getting a lot of complaints about these 36o’s crashing. I had an intercooler installed @ purchase time but it didnt help. I decided to pay the extra bucks for a higher quality system with a bluray player, free online gaming and Hdmi output. This system is only new and once the developers learn to use its power properly we will see a surge in sales and popularity. Played HALO and it sucked and i’m sure that Halo 3 isnt much better. Reviews I have read say its the same old title dressed up a little. The only game i’ve seen any good on 360 is Gears and Resistance Fall of Man for ps3 is as good or better . Don’t underestimate the power of Sony all you 360 geeks will want one within a year when our technology will bury your “little red lights of death prone machines”.

lmao…thats hilarious…cause..well…the xbox has hdmi too..and amazing..it also includes the cable (HDMI, alomng with composite and component video) and a hard drive TWICE the size of ps3s…anddd….no over heating issues…and it has the best online community of any console
but about halo3…yeah, its beta, itll be more polished with more stuff on release of full game, and the single player iwll be nicer looking then multiplayer cause multiplayer focuses on fun factor and gameplay

True hardcore gamers would own all three consoles including PC and play all the games to his/her likings.
I own all three consoles and could care less about who is exclusive to who as long at its a good game, I’ll get it and play it.
After getting home from a long day at work, I would log onto XLIVE and have a ball with some buddies with a good fps while the kids have their fun with the Wii. After I’m done with XLIVE, I’ll pop in a Blu-Ray movie into the PS3 and enjoy a good movie with the wife. After everyone goes to bed, I turn on my PC and log onto WoW and raid a couple dungeons with guildies until morning, and then go back to work.
I welcome the competition between Nintendo, MS, and SONY. I hope all systems do well and continue to compete so I can have lots of games to play.
Cheer up guys, life’s too short, buy all consoles and have a ball.

Seriously, you really should stop. It all comes down to the human mind and what your opinions are. People will always tend to stick with their own opinions. Although I am one who has a xbox, you just can’t go bashing around other games/systems. Just keep you opinions to yourselves and let the market settle out by itself. Whatever you say won’t change someone else’s opinion. In the end arn’t we all gamers? No matter what platform or games? Just some thoughts.
PS: I really think you’ll all be to busy arguing to be reading this. But I just had to state the truth.

I’m very scared of the coming release date for Halo 3. Everybody who owns a 360 is excited, sure, but I’m not sure if it will be such a great time for us if it isn’t as good as we expect. The graphics certainly aren’t, and there’s no time to rework all the art either. It will sell well – that is a certainty, but like matrix reloaded, it might not be great and it might have too much confidence. And everybody just looks stupid. Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Nooooooo!!!!!!!! I’m crying!!!!!!!!!!!!

#63 – You summed it up very well, I agree with you so much. I guess the focus I had was consoles but I guess you right. As far as the opinions comment goes (#65), I think you’re almost right. The people who bash halo 3 or PS3 need to back up their opinions with facts and caps.
To #67, Bungie screwed up with halo 2, we all know. But no one knows about the story mode yet, not even you. And i’m pretty sure the multiplayer mode is what makes it one of the best selling games in history.
To #69, once again THIS IS A BETA, no one can get that through their head and keep insulting it for that reason. Also, you said it will not kick sony’s but. it obviously won’t kill them, but the 4 million pre-orders from gamestop alone speaks for itself, regardless of how bad/good the game is. As far as the latter of your comment, opinons prove nothing.

Want facts?
-360 had a 1 yr head start…fact!
-The PS2s launch was identical to the PS3s, and everyone was bashing the console for the exact same reasons back then as well: lack of good games, hard to develop for, too expensive etc… yet that didn’t stop it from pwning the competition…and continuing to do so even today…fact! (The PS2 is currently still outselling both the xbox 360 & the Wii! c: http://www.techspot.com/news/25009-wii-sales-up-playstation-2-still-in-the-lead.html)
-Based on sales figures of the two consoles, the PS3 is doing just as well as the 360 did during it’s first year around when overlapping sales figures…fact! (There wasn’t even any competition around for the 360 back then for a whole year! talk about weak sales! The PS3 has to deal with two rivaling consoles)
The 360 may be outselling the PS3 in total sales and securing it’s spot in the lead at the moment, but eventually it will meet the same fate as the original xbox,which was around for a measly 3 years before the release of the 360, if not worse. (Which saw the release of both Halos exclusively, mind you, and couldn’t even manage to put a dent in the PS2s overall domination over the market). “History repeats itself” ring any bells anyone?
I’ve finished both Halos 1 & 2 on Legendary and thought the two provided for some excellent FPS experiences both online and off… but I think it’s absolutely insane to even compare Halo with MGS… especially MGS4! Metal Gear Solid owns hands down by far! (And currently Kojima has no, i repeat, no plans for a port of MGS4 to the 360, none what so ever as has been stated by the man himself)
So all you bashing the PS3 should really just lay off and chill… there’s no point in rushing the inevitable…if you really are that fond of your xboxes you should, instead, be savoring these moments of superiority before you find yourselves deciding on when it is you’ll be grabbing ps3s if you already haven’t got one that is.
There are gonna be some really crazy ass titles coming up soon, so just sit tight and enjoy the show!

Who cares who cares. If you didnt know the graphics from the halo 3 beta are from a build in march. March. Thats 3 months ago and 7 months before the release of the game. Personally I thinkg MGS is garbage. Does it make it so? no. I just think its the most boring piece of crap ever. I think its uninspired. I like halo personally think its fun. Just because i think MGS is crap it doesnt mean it is. I prefer splintercell over MGS anyday. Who really cares in the end.
I got an Xbox 360 for one reason and one reason alone. Games and Gameplay, and amazing online. Games like Gears, Oblivion, Graw(much better than SOCOM IMO) , Mass Effect, Bioshock, Too Human, Halo Wars, Halo 3, Forza 2, R6:Vegas, Dead Rising, Crackdown, C&C3, PGR 3&4, Fable 2. I mean I dont want that many games for any other console. Not even an eighth of alll those games.
Halo is extremely fun and if you think every game in the series falied to innovate shooters in any ways or games in any way for that matter. i can gaurentee you havent played halo for more than 10 minutes. Halo 1 brought simple mechanics,and vehicle warfare to shooters. Halo 2 brought a (still to this day, with the exception of Halo 3)unrivalled matchmaking, and lobby&party system. Halo 3 further improved the matchmaking syetm. Allows you to replay any multiplayer match from any angle at any play speed. It allows you to fully (I mean completely and entirely) modify game mode settings entirely (from player speed to gravity to what special characteristics recently spawned person has. And thats just the beta. Also the single player graphics are supposed to be considerably better than MP graphics.

I think I came off wrong,
I hate to be bashing any console like I was, but it wasn’t the console I was meaning to bash. It was the extreme fanboys who failed to convey any point through their obnoxious opinions.
I regret coming off as a fanboy but I do have a bias, as everyone does. I’ve never played MGS and was just basing my viewpoints on sheer sale numbers.
As far as the whole “matching sales” and previous market leaders, the PS2 was on the market un-opposed (I refuse to count the gamecube as competion) for many years before the xbox even exsisted, thus establishing an un-beatable market lead. And as far as the “people complining about over-advanced technology”, this never occured with the original xbox even though it was more advanced (not much though). as far as the xbox having a sales lead; the wii was released at the same time and it should surpass the xbox 360 in sales ver quickly. You cannot base future sales on past sales as the gaming demographic has changed and market competion is different.
Well the PS2 may be outselling all other consoles this is what a cheap price tag, extremly long market lead/establishment, and cheap parents who don’t know what they’re buying get you… fact!
The “nasy measely xbox fate” and MGS/halo comparisons are OPINION – many people think the xbox was a good console and if it was so bad, they woulden’t make a second one… fact!
and your “crazy titles” coming out is an opionion, and thats a fact.
I do, however agree with you that console bashing is un-nessisary unless it has a valid point.

xbox has one single game against the biggest company in vieogames. microsoft would never has a chance against titles like MGS4, GOW3, R&C future, and other outcoming titles from japan like Shadow of the colossus or ICO. For me, just the sixaxis justify the superiority os ps3 agains xbox360, becaus M$ SUKXXXXXXX!!!!!!!
