Launch details for Xbox 2
It is a tough guess to make that whether the leak was intentional or Bill Gates made a rare mistake in public. Microsoft has been quite secretive about their plans of launching the upcoming Xbox 2 gaming machine. Big speculation is going around the Internet predicting whether the gaming machine would make it to the retail stores this year or will it be delayed to 2006.
Bill was addressing a national convention of business editors and writers where he accidentally slipped out the information that Xbox 2 would be launched in this year itself. He was talking about consumer adoption of high-definition displays where Microsoft as a tech company is looking into to take on their prime competitor in the gaming market Sony.
The information was apparently released when Bill answered his own question: “”What will the year of high-definition be?”. The answer came out: “this year, because we’re going to ship this next Xbox.” This means that Microsoft is indeed going to release their Xbox 2 gaming console in this year.
However, knowing Microsoft and their plans… no one would be surprised if they delay it to some other time in the future. Longhorn is a good example of a product which has seen so many delays that no one is certain whether the company would be able to make it to their next reported launch date.
Microsoft has refused to comment on this revelation from their chairperson as the company has officially planned to release further details on the launch of Xbox2 on MTV Special on television next week.
