Church of England has issues with Sony’s Resistance – Fall of Man videogame
Sony continues to face issues with their Playstation 3 gaming console and related material. The console is already facing enough competition from rival consoles like Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox 360.
The latest controversy has been raised by the Church of England which has now criticized the Sony Computer Entertainment for their Playstation 3 game Resistance — Fall of Man.
The Church of England has asked the videogame company to apologize for using one of its churches as the scene for a fight sequence in the game.
The game features a digital rendering of the inside of England’s Manchester Cathedral. The Church is also demanding that Sony removes all the references to this Church from their videogame.
They have also demanded that Sony makes a donation to people working with victims of gun crime in Manchester.
David Marshall, director of communications for Manchester Cathedral added that they do allow the use of its cathedral for certain entertainment purposes as long as permission is taken from them. He claims that Sony did not ask permission for their game.
He added: “We think it’s the first time a sacred space has been digitally captured and recreated for a game such as this.”
