Electronic Arts to be divided into four divisions

World’s largest videogame publisher Electronic Arts has said that they are now going to divide the company into four units.

EA CEO John Riccitiello said in a statement that this division would take place to increase the efficiency of the company.

These four divisions would concentrate on sports, casual games, the “Sims” franchise, and other games.

The company added that this reorganization would not result in any job cuts but would still help them save money.

Todd Greenwald, an analyst with Nollenberger Capital Partners spoke about this EA announcement: “It makes a lot of sense. It streamlines the company. It goes with Riccitiello’s desire to make people more accountable. When a game misses a deadline, when the quality is bad, he wants one person to explain why.”

Frank Gibeau, head of the new EA Games unit spoke about Riccitiello: “He’s had a very strong and aggressive change agenda and what he’s been framing as a challenge to the management team is that we are facing a market that is incredibly diverse and complex.”
