Take-Two determined to launch Manhunt 2 in the market

Videogame developers Take-Two Interactive Software has said in a statement that they stand behind their new game Manhunt 2 and are determined to launch it in the market.

The game has already been banned in two international markets Britain and Ireland and is facing criticism in the US market.

Take-Two said in a statement on their views on their new game: “We intend in the days ahead to continue to explore all of our options with regard to the rating of this extraordinary game.”

The game has been banned in Britain and Ireland as the rating agencies said that it would highly violent and does not seem to be fit for a release.

The game features an amnesiac scientist and a psychotic killer who escapes from an asylum and goes ahead on a killing spree. In fact, the game has also been developed for the Nintendo Wii console and enables the user to use the Wiimote as a virtual murder weapon.

Manhunt 2 could get an Adults Only rating in the US market which would hurt its sales badly. Most popular retailing stores including Best Buy Co., Target Corp., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. won’t stock AO-rated games.

The developers are also facing troubles with the gaming console makers as Nintendo and Sony have said that their policies bar any AO-rated content on their systems.
