Sony PSP latest firmware enables it to use full processor power

Japanese videogame console maker Sony has revealed that their recently released 3.50 firmware update has boosted the processor’s CPU clock speed from 266Mhz to the maximum of 333Mhz.

With this the handheld gaming console would now run at its highest possible speed. Incidentally, most games available for the console till now run only at 222Mhz.

Market sources claim that some of the newer Ratchet and Clank game are using the CPU at 266MHz.

In fact, hackers have in the past found ways to run the device at the top processor speeds but those patches consumed more battery power.

The company said that the older games would continue to use the device at older clock speeds.
