Variety Asia: Japanese game developers now favoring Nintendo Wii
Variety Asia magazine is reporting that the videogame developers in Japan are increasingly favoring Nintendo Wii gaming console over other platforms.
Wii has turned into a phenomenon. Ever since the launch, it has been selling like hot cakes. It is still tough to find a unit at a retail store in the US market and the game still sells for a premium on online auction sites like eBay.
The report has quoted a Nikkei newspaper survey which found out that Namco Bandai will up its Nintendo titles by 109% to 115; Sega by 96% to 49; and Capcom by 5% to 20.
In comparison, these three game developers are expected to cut shipments of titles for Sony machines by 30%-40%.
Nintendo Wii is outselling the Sony Playstation 3 gaming console two to one in the U.S. and three to one in Japan. Developing games for the Wii is cheaper and more exciting considering the innovative game play offered by the Wiimote.
Another major Japanese videogame maker Square Enix has already said that they have no plans to develop titles for the PS3 until sales improve.

Well, the Ps3 was destined to fail with a price tag like that and with hardly any good games out it would be foolish to buy one.
I almost think the Ps3 will be this generations ‘purple lunchbox’ (talking about how sadly the GC died last generation.)

well done Nintendo! it took some time and patience, but you are back at the #1 spot you deserve to be in! and yes, even with a 200.00 price cut, the PS3 is still $150.00 more than our little Wii AND they don’t have any fun games!! Boohoo Sony, looks like your plan to shove Blu-ray players down our throats “failed your majesty” . . . oh, you folks didn’t forget thats the REAL reason we even HAVE the PS3?? Come on, Sony controls Sony Pictures, Sony manufactures the PROPRIETARY format Blu-ray disc and Sony makes the hardware to play those movies. GEE CAN YOU SAY MONOPOLY!!!! Good riddence Sony, and I am sure some of their dirty money went to Blockbuster Video so they would announce they would be supporting Blu-ray only in their stores instead of HD-DVD. BUT they will still over HD online . . . right, not going to make Sony’s mistake! Long Live Betamax, Long Live Minidisc, Long Live SACD . . . oh wait, they don’t, since those Sony formats FAILED TOO! Sony, how about learning from your past, don’t FORCE stuff to unwilling consumers!!!!!
