Microsoft Xbox 360 warranty increased to 3 years
Microsoft has announced that they are now extending the warranty on their gaming console Xbox 360 to three years.
The company took this decision after noticing that too many of the video game console units have been facing “general hardware failureā problems.
Microsoft further said that they now expect to record a $1.05 billion to $1.15 billion charge for the fourth quarter for the anticipated costs.
Robbie Bach, president of the Microsoft’s entertainment and devices division spoke on this decision: “We don’t think we’ve been getting the job done. In the past few months, we have been having to make Xbox 360 console repairs at a rate too high for our liking.”
He added that the company has made some changes to the manufacturing process of the Xbox 360 that should reduce Xbox 360 hardware meltdowns.
As a result of this new development, Microsoft would now will pay for shipping and repairs for three years, worldwide. This would be applicable for gamers with Xbox 360 units suffering from the “the red ring of death.”
Excellent news for the Xbox 360 owners.
