Microsoft still confident that Xbox division would make a profit in 2008 fiscal year
Nintendo is selling the largest number of next generation gaming console units in the world. Sony has promised to launch a number of new titles for their Playstation 3 gaming console in the coming months. Microsoft has just announced their decision to enhance the warranty on their Xbox 360 gaming consoles to three years.
The company has also now said that they still expect their Xbox video game division to make a profit in fiscal 2008.
This announcement has been made despite the fact that they are now likely to take charge of more than $1 billion to cover repairs to Xbox 360 consoles.
Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft’s entertainment and devices unit added in a statement: “Our goal has been to have Xbox profitable in the coming fiscal year 2008. We don’t think this changes that in any way.”
