Sony announces Playstation 3 80GB model for USD 599
Sony has just confirmed the price cut on their 60 GB Playstation 3 model. That console is now selling for USD 499 in the US market.
The company has also now announced a new variant of the Playstation 3 gaming console. This new edition would come with a 80 GB hard disk and would sell for USD 599.
This new Playstation 3 would be available in the US and Canada market by August this year.
Sony said that this higher end model of the PS3 console would also include a retail copy of the online racing title “MotorStorm”.
Sony spokesman David Karraker added in a statement that this new variant would complement their upcoming service which would offer downloadable high-definition movies, video games, movie trailers and demos.
Incidentally, both the PS3 consoles are still expensive compared to the Microsoft’s most expensive console which is the Xbox 360 Elite edition featuring a 120 GB hard disk. Microsoft launched this version in April this year and it is being sold in the market for USD 479.99.
