Microsoft: No plans to cut Xbox 360 prices
Software giant Microsoft has stated that they currently have no plans to respond to Sony’s price cut announcements on the Playstation 3 gaming console.
Sony has just announced a USD 100 cut in the price of their 60GB edition of the Playstation 3 gaming console.
The company also launched a new 80 GB variant of the PS3 which would cost USD 599 in the US market.
However, Microsoft’s most expensive Xbox 360 variant (Xbox 360 Elite) is still cheaper than the Sony’s cheapest PS3 offering.
Microsoft stated that they are confident that their Xbox 360 would continue to dominate the sales as they would soon be launching new titles targeting both hardcore and casual gamers.
Shane Kim, head of Microsoft Games Studios said in a statement: “We have no desire, no need, to react to anything the competition has done. We feel really great about the Xbox 360 momentum right now. Customers are voting with their wallets, it’s not just about console units. We feel great about how we’re doing.”
