Nintendo staying quiet about Nintendo Revolution

While the competition in Microsoft and Sony are using the media and the E3 Expo to their full advantage to showcase their upcoming next generation gaming consoles, Nintendo has decided to play the waiting game. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says it pays to be original. And they are taking a risk with keeping secretive about their upcoming Nintendo Revolution.

Satoru in an interview with the media said that the company would continue to work as they have been in the past in spite of the fact that both Microsoft and Sony are eating into the market, which once they ruled with their consoles. Iwata said: “It doesn’t make sense for us to show things new in terms of specifics. What is important for customers is being able to touch it and to play. And in this industry, it is easy to imitate. A brand new idea can easily be taken by competitors. Some have stolen ideas as Sony did in the Rumble Pack case”.

The competition in Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 both promises to offer high quality graphics and life like gaming capabilities. However, for Nintendo, history is important as they plan to offer database of two decades of games titles including firm favorites such as the Super Mario and Donkey Kong series. Iwata said: “Looking back at the history of video games, hardware manufacturers were trying to intensify processing power of the CPU, but we will see a kind of limit in doing so in the future. Today we hear that spending two or three times more in development costs makes sense if you can enjoy two or three times the sales. We will oppose that kind of theory. We will support interesting and big ideas.”

I do hope that Nintendo’s secret will make Sony and Microsoft wet and poo themselves for ages. Good thinking Nintendo.
PS if Nintendo is reading this, please can you hire me? I got plenty of ideas and love Nintendo very much, so will that do?
