THQ’s First Video Game Title Based on the Popular Nickelodeon TV Series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Reaches Major Retail Milestone as a PlayStation®2 System “Greatest Hit”

THQ Inc. (NASDAQ:THQI) today announced that Avatar: The Last Airbender has achieved Sony Computer Entertainment America’s “Greatest Hits” status for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and is now available at retailers throughout North America for the suggested retail price of $19.99. Avatar: The Last Airbender made its video game debut in October 2006 and finished the year as THQ’s top selling Nickelodeon property.

“We are thrilled with the exceptional success of Avatar: The Last Airbender and the achievement of this retail milestone,” said Scott Guthrie, senior vice president of North American sales and distribution, THQ. “Last year, Avatar was a completely new property in THQ’s extensive Nickelodeon portfolio of titles which includes the top-selling SpongeBob SquarePants game series. It’s great to see the brand resonate so quickly with such a significant number of gamers.”

THQ is expected to release another Avatar video game this fall. Avatar: The Last Airbender–The Burning Earth will follow the second season of the TV series and is scheduled to release for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation 2 system, Wii™ home video game system from Nintendo, Nintendo DS™ and Game Boy® Advance.

Based on Nickelodeon’s top-rated TV show, the Avatar: The Last Airbender video game brings to life an adventure of intrigue, deceit and revelation. Players will be able to play as all four main characters from the show: Aang, Katara, Haru and Sokka, as they grow their team into an unstoppable force making discoveries in a blend of martial arts combat and controlling the elements. Players will need to learn numerous bending powers in order to master the four elements of Water, Earth, Fire and Air while journeying through the various environments. Along the way, players will encounter additional characters from the show and discover never before seen enemies and creatures.
