Company of Heroes
Of course, when you talk about Quake and its promised squad based gameplay, the first thing you think of is Call of Duty. The World War 2 paradigm is being milked again this time in a new game called Company of Heroes from THQ. World War II is being milked so much in fact, that if someone had patented it, they would have a very very lucrative franchise right now. Relic is developing this newest installment, and you should be excused if you seem a little jaded. Of course, but this particular game in question happens to be very very gorgeous. The up close and personal demo shows detailed buildings, soldiers, vehicles, and environment. It is stunning, really; it is all in high resolution and painstakingly modeled, with realistic animation and great lighting and FX. Only this is a RTS.
This is vintage Relic. Like in their previous games like Homeworld, Impossible Creatures, and Warhammer 40k, they let the player as lose to the battle as possible and then see it at a much-detached overview, all within the same gamespace.

While the graphical chutzpah and the Havok powered physics are eye boggling, Relic is closely guarding the actual details. All we know is that the game will be story based, with the story being told via in mission cut scenes; the game will have some sort of a resource system, and not only focus on the tactics. The 2006 release date is a little teasing, but knowing Relic, they are going to polish the hell out of it before they release it.
