Nvidia says graphic processors profitable than consoles
In an unofficial interview with the Inquirer Magazine, Mr. David Kirk of the Nvidia has reported that the company has sold around 100 million units of their Graphic Processor Units worldwide in the last 12 months alone. He also surprised many by claiming that there is more money in making graphic processors for computers than selling processors for console video games.
The market is currently hot with the news coming in from the E3 Expo regarding the launch of Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, and the Nintendo Revolution. And a graphical processor makes an important part of this gaming console market. Nvidia is supplying the processors to Sony for their PlayStation 3, which would definitely help them in increasing their profit figures.
However, the company is still sure that their PC Chip sales figure will beat the demand from the entertainment giant Sony regarding their gaming consoles. Sony took around 5 years to sell around 80 million units of their PlayStation 2 gaming machine. And the company believes that it can sell more than 6 times the PC Graphic Card units in the similar time period in the future.
However, sales are still sales and PlayStation 3 is still pretty sure to sell in huge numbers as soon as it arrive in the market sometime next year.
