Sony to challenge with Wii with a bundled PS2?
Looks like Sony has decided to challenge the domination of Nintendo Wii gaming console by offering a bundled package of Playstation 2 this coming holiday season.
Nintendo Wii continues to remain the best selling gaming console this year and is still hard to find on the stores in the US market.
Sony has announced that they would be selling a bundled PS2 console package that would ship with karaoke game, two mics, and white controller.
This package would cost just around USD 150 and the PS2 in the package would be in white color. The game in this package would be SingStar Pop. Nintendo sells the Wii for USD 250 and the console ships with Wii Sports (a 5 game in one package) for no cost in the US market along with a Wiimote.
This looks like a great idea considering PS2 still packs quite a punch and has a huge number of games available for it. But we think that the Playstation 2 looks better in Black.

I admit it is cool but the PS2 does not look all that good in white, the lines are not clean and are too jagged for brighter colors (other than black). The controller looks awesome though, I’m hoping this will coerce Sony into making the PS3 in white. As for competing against the Wii? Ummm… no. Changing the color and adding a bundle? It is not even on the same level as the Wii. Why buy a previous generation console (that offers little backwards compatibility and will soon be phased out) when you can get a next-gen, waaaay more fun console that offers full backward compatibility. Sony wants to compete with the Wii… cut the PS3 price to $350 and you’ve got a winner. Sony, you won the console war in the previous generation, stop trying to win the next-gen war with your old (inferior) weapon. Sony is clearly abusing its consumers with the PS3 and now the concentration on last-gen’s PS2.

This made me laugh. Sony cannot compete with the Wii from Nintendo. They are pushing the PS2 cause the PS3 can’t touch Nintendo’s innovative product. The end of Sony commeth…..

I believe the price point is more important here! Sony just cannot challenge the Wii on the price point. It’s failing to compete with the Xbox 360 on the same point!

This is really sad, sony might as well put their hands up and say “we have given up on innovation and don’t want to lead the way any more”. What ever this might do for sony’s sales, in the long term this kind of thing is just not good for the image of the company. leaders and innovators are not too words that can be applied to sony at the moment, more like desperate and second string!!!!

I think the PS2 (and PS3) looks better in the bin (where junk belongs).
