Reports say Microsoft thinking of a USD 300 price for Xbox 360

The confirmation about the price tag of the next generation gaming console from Microsoft would certainly take sometime. However, rumors are circulating in the online media about Microsoft considering a price tag of around USD 300 for the Xbox 360. Rumors quote an interview of the online magazine TheStreet.com with the Microsoft Corporate Vice President J. Allard said.

However, Allard has confirmed that these are just speculative pricing at the moment and the final decision is yet to be taken. The current generation console from the company Xbox was launched at a price of USD 299 and has been quite successful taking the second spot in the market after Sony PlayStation 2.

With the Xbox 360, the company believes that they have got a product good enough to beat Sony at their own game and take over the gaming world with the best of features and games on offer. The console comes with a three-core processor by IBM, 512 MB of Ram, and a custom video card by ATI.

The company is expected to make a loss on every gaming console sold in the market, as has been the case with many products in the past. However, they recover the money through the sales of the software for these consoles. Microsoft’s Halo series has been a huge success in terms of videogame sales for the company and Halo 3 is expected to be a special attraction with the Xbox 360 gaming console.
