Austin Game Developers Conference 2007
Paleo Entertainment, an independent video game development, production and distribution company for consumer video games, today released the back story surrounding its upcoming multiplayer FPS, Merchants of Brooklyn: M.O.B.
Set in 3100 AD, Merchants of Brooklyn: M.O.B. challenges gamers to plunge themselves in a futuristic world that confronts mankind’s ancient past with its technological future as cloned Neanderthals walk the planet again. The simple but physically strong creatures find themselves with unexpected freedom, and as Neanderthals themselves, gamers will need to battle their way from becoming extinct once more.
About Merchants of Brooklyn: M.O.B.
The game pits a rough-and-tough Brooklyn mafia don against a brilliant paleogeneticist who has created flesh and blood Neanderthals from ancient DNA. Exploiting them as forced labor and blood sport entertainment, the mob is determined to take and maintain a hold on this new cash enterprise. There is also a resolute scientist who will do his best to maintain ultimate control over his creations, as well as cloning activists, adding a third element of surprise to this fast-paced single and multiplayer FPS.
Merchants of Brooklyn: M.O.B. challenges gamers to become the main character, Matteo Savio, and skillfully fight and think their way through visually breathtaking environments, and discover Matteo’s place as a primitive Neanderthal within a futuristic world steeped in greed, deception and violence.
About the Technology
To create complex and stunning graphics, Paleo Entertainment focused on incorporating the newest engine technology available. The company recently entered into a technology partnership with CryTek GmbH (“CryTek”) to incorporate one of the industry’s most robust physics and rendering engines available. CryTek’s new and highly anticipated CryENGINE®2 is the driving force behind Merchants of Brooklyn: M.O.B.
