Rumors say that PlayStation 3 price will match PS2
We just heard rumors about a senior Microsoft representative talking about a possible USD 300 price tag for their upcoming next generation gaming console, the Xbox 360. Now, the latest news in is that even Sony is considering following the same pricing model with their PlayStation 3 when it will be launched sometime next year.
The company priced the PlayStation and the PlayStation 2 at similar levels at their respective launches. However, PlayStation 3 is expected to be so powerful that matching the similar price levels would be a tough challenge for the entertainment giant.
The reports came from a Japanese website Impress PC Watch, which said that the company is thinking about pricing their upcoming gaming machine at, lower than 40,000 Yen. They are in talks with their material suppliers to achieve that pricing levels to match the same rates as the earlier generation Playstations.
The recently held E3 Expo saw all the three giants of the industry Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo talking about their upcoming launches in PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the Revolution respectively. The Xbox 360 is scheduled to launch this year itself while the rest of the two gaming consoles arrives next year.
