Halo developer Bungie all set to become an independent company
Xbox 360 maker Microsoft has announced that the Bungie videogame developers would soon become an independent identity.
The company is most famous for the Halo series which has been the driving force behind the success of Xbox and Xbox 360 in the worldwide market.
Halo 3 was recently launched and it broke several records while doing so.
Microsoft added in its statement that they would retain a minor stake in this new entity and would continue to publish games through it.
The interesting news is that Bungie is now likely to develop games for other platforms including Nintendo Wii and Sony Playstation 3.
Bungie head Harold Ryan was quoted as saying to the media: “We will continue to develop with our primary focus on Microsoft platforms. We look forward to continuing that affiliation through ‘Halo’ and beyond.”
Shane Kim, head of Microsoft Game Studios added: “While we are supporting Bungie’s desire to return to its independent roots, we will continue to invest in our ‘Halo’ entertainment property with Bungie and other partners.”
