Sony announces cheaper Playstation 3 edition for US market
Sony has finally announced the much awaited price cut on their Playstation 3 gaming console for the US market.
The top end Playstation 3 console with 80 GB hard disk would now cost $499 in the US market.
This is down from the previous price tag of USD 599. Sony also announced a new variant of the console with 40 GB hard disk. This version would cost USD 399.
However, this cheaper variant would not come with a chip that enables the console to play the games made for PS2 and Playstation.
Another sad part is that the PS3 continues to remain the most expensive next generation console on sale in the market today.
Microsoft Xbox 360 costs USD 350 while the Nintendo Wii sells for USD 250.
