Sony to launch a new variant of Playstation 2

Sony is now scheduled to launch a new variant of their Playstation 2 gaming console. This launch would take place before the holiday season as they plan to gain from the popularity of this age old console.

Their Playstation 3 is still failing to challenge Xbox 360 in the international market. They hope to somewhat recover from the losses with this new PS2 edition.

This new edition would be white in color and would ship with SingStar Pop gaming title. It would also include two microphones.

The price has been set at $149.99 and it should start appearing in the retail stores by the first week of November.

Market analyst Mike Hickey spoke about Sony decision to launch this new PS2 edition: “If they’re profitable on the PS2, as we think they are, it takes a little of the loss away on the PS3”.
