Sony Playstation 3 40 GB edition launched in USA

Sony has now officially launched their latest variant of the Playstation 3 gaming console in the US market.

This new variant comes with a 40 GB hard disk but lacks a processor which enabled it to play the older generation games made for the PS2 console.

The Sony PS3 40GB edition comes bundled with the Spider-Man 3 on a Blu-Ray disc.

It also lacks some other components like additional USB ports, and multi card memory support which are found on the higher end variants.

Jack Tretton, president SCEA said in a statement on this new variant: “We’re pleased to offer the consumer a lower price point without sacrificing the core technology components that make PS3 the most advanced high-definition entertainment system available. Every PS3 comes with a Blu-ray drive, HDMI output, an integrated Wi-Fi connection, Cell Broadband Engine and a built-in hard-drive.”
