Microsoft to sell 10 million+ Xbox 360 in first year
Microsoft have claimed that they are targeting to sell more than 10 million units of their upcoming next generation gaming console Xbox 360 during the first 12-16 months from the launch date sometime later this year. These targets were revealed by their outspoken Xbox marketing boss Peter Moore at a video games conference in London.
The Xbox 360 gaming console is expected to be launched in the retail market by the end of the year to just coincide with the holiday season in the North American market and the company wants to fully utilize the early bird advantage. They would be launching it a bit later in the European and Japanese market where their competitor Sony dominates the scene with their current generation PlayStation 2 gaming console.
Microsoft would have a time advantage this time compared to the current Xbox gaming console, which arrived in the market after Sony PlayStation 2 had already made the inroads. Sony is not due to launch their PlayStation 3 before the second quarter of next year and this gives Microsoft enough time to exploit the market conditions.
