Sony PlayStation 3 to come in spring 2006
Microsoft has already announced their plans to launch the Xbox 360 gaming console before the end of the current year. This gives them the crucial early bird advantage over Sony as they have now announced plans to release the PlayStation 3 console only in spring next year. Microsoft as a result would have at least a 6-month time advantage with their Xbox 360 console and they would be making good use of that to get a head start over Sony.
Sony however has not confirmed whether the launch date of spring next year is for all the major markets including the United States and Europe. Japan would of course be the first country to get the taste of the next generation PlayStation 3 gaming console. The company is yet to launch their PlayStation Portable in the European market months after the launch in Japan due to a heavy demand in the Japanese and American market.
Sony Computer entertainment Europe President David Reeves said in a statement about the launch of the PlayStation 3 gaming console: “I would like to think we would get it in Europe around the same time as Japan. That first mover advantage is real if you have momentum.” He said that the company was ready to take on Microsoft in the market despite their late arrival.
