Nintendo Wii said to have the most games available for download

Electronic Entertainment Design and Research has said in a research paper that Nintendo Wii gaming console seems to have the maximum number of games available for download compared to rival products.

However, all of them seems to be re-released titles which were available for the previous generation gaming consoles.

The research paper further said that Microsoft Xbox 360 has the maximum number of downloadable games which are totally new.

It further stated that 84 percent of downloadable 360 games have online functionality. In comparison, only 45 percent of PS3 titles have online functionality. None of the downloadable Wii games have online functionality.

The report had this to say: “In an environment with crippling production costs, publishers have new ways to dramatically impact their financial gain, while making gamers happy, if they understand how to utilize the new generation of console storefronts.”
