Romantics files a lawsuit against Activision
Activision has been sued by the Romantics over their recently launched gaming title Guitar Hero.
The Romantics are claiming that Activision is infringing on their work by featuring a soundalike recording of their hit song “What I Like About You.”
They are asking for unspecified damages in this lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in Detroit.
The song in question is made available in the gaming title “Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the ’80s.”
The Romantics are also asking the court for an injunction which could result in the title being removed from sale at the stores.
The lawsuit is not related to copyright issues for the song as the gaming company did secured permission to use “What I Like About You”. They have issues with the creation of an imitation which apparently infringed on the group’s rights to its own likeness.
