Sony has reduced the prices of Platinum PS2 games
Entertainment giant and the maker of the popular gaming consoles PlayStation has announced that they are reducing the prices of the popular Platinum Series games for the PlayStation 2 gaming console. The effect of this news is immediate as the entire Platinum range will be available to retailers at around approximately a third less than previously. The stores would now be selling them for around £14.99 or less.
The company has officially not realigned the standard retail price (SRP) of these games. though the lower cost price for the range would let the retail game sellers to offer discounted prices for these games. one of such retailers spoke to a media group and said: Whereas you used to see two for thirty pound offers, two for twenty will become the norm very soon. Individually, you’ll see the range going for about £14.99, and some stores may even decide to discount to £9.99.”
Sony Computer Entertainment Spokesperson David Wilson said in a statement: “From this point onwards with new releases we have set a new trade price for Platinum. Consumers should be able to find our Platinum titles at a lower price.” He also stressed on the fact that the new price was not exactly the official SRP of the games. the news is good for the retailers as no big games has seen a release in the recent times and the sales are somewhat drying up.
The new offers would be available in stores “in the coming weeks,” according to one high street source.
