Sony expects PS3 sales to touch 11 million by fiscal year end

Sony Playstation 3 might not have received the kind of response like the company had expected but things are definitely improving for them.

Sony has now said that they are expecting the sales of the console to reach 11 million by the end of this fiscal year.

The company said that they aim to achieve this target despite facing intense competition from Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

Sony Computer Entertainment’s chief executive Kazuo Hirai added that the recent price cut has helped them boost the sales and new games have also increased the value of buying the PS3 console.

As per market reports they managed to outsold Nintendo’s Wii in Japan in November which is a huge achievement considering their performance in the recent months.

I think what they mean is 11 million
consoles will be shipped by next April.

In the Japan, they have sold about 1.75
million. In north America about 3
million. So an optimistic estimate of
5.5 million at this stage. In the next
6 months they expect to sell another
5.5 million, so they are expecting
    sales to double.
