PlayStation 3 did well in Europe during the holiday season

Sony has said that their Playstation 3 gaming console managed to sell in great quantities in the European market during the holiday season last year.

The company gained from the recently announced price cut on the console which made it a worthy competitor to dominating Wii gaming console.

They had launched the PS3 console in Europe in March last year. They managed to sell close to around 1.2 million units in Europe during the five- week period ended December 31.

Sony had said that they aimed at selling 11 million PlayStation 3 in the fiscal year ending in March this year.

Market analysts however believe that they would fail to meet this target. They are likely to sell 8 million PlayStation 3s in the year ending March 31.
