Sony Playstation 3 is the reason behind delayed launch of Grand Theft Auto IV
Rockstar has somewhat accepted that the Sony’s Playstation 3 gaming console was one of the major reason why their much awaited gaming title Grand Theft Auto IV has been delayed so much.
The game was originally scheduled for launch last year. It would now be available in April.
Jeronimo Barrera, vice president of product development for Rockstar admitted in a statement: “It’s really no surprise to anybody that the PS3 was definitely a contributing factor (to the delay).”
He however added: “That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with the PS3 version. It’s awesome… Now, we’re neck and neck”
Grand Theft Auto IV launch date currently is scheduled on April 29. It would be made available for both Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3.

Rockstar Games also said that the Xbox 360 was a problem since not all Xbox 360 have a hard drive and it has no HD DVD or Blu-ray Disc. The PS3 version will be on a single disc and have no loading time which is way better. Xbox 360 has a 33% failure rate…

Yea, precisely. Playstation 3’s are no doubt hard to program for. But if lazy companies (EA for eg.) decide to put some back into it like Insomniac (Ratchet & Clank), Naughty Dog (Uncharted: Drakes Fortune), Rockstar (It’s obvious), you really can bring out the best in the ps3. Naughty Dog president said that they tapped a mere 30% of the Cell’s power. There is a lot of speculation that the RSX isnt as fast (memory wise) as the ATi shit in the xbox, but the Cell can take a huge load off it, and thus together they can be better. I bought a 360 specifically for halo 3….thats about it. nothing else appeals to me. The ps3 is faaar better

I totally agree with you there, the PS3 might be similar in 1:1 comparisons but it’s standardization is what makes it a more robust system. Still can;t believe the choppy look of PES8, just a bit disconcerting hopefully they’ll sort that out in the next iteration.

typical. the curse of the ps3 continues. it’s sad that the rest of the gaming world has to wait for the ps3 to catch up. it’s even more sad that the proven talent of the developers get ignored due to the ps3’s inefficient architecture. oh well, i’m sure they’ll make up the extra dev costs somewhere. altho with the extremely small ps3 userbase, it’ll be interesting to see where they go for it; ie; PSN. I guess the more memory and Unified Shader Architecture of the 360 is proving itself more developer-friendly afterall….
