Sony’s Game Division finally profitable with Playstation 3

It has taken a long time by Sony has finally made their Playstation 3 venture profitable as their game division has turned a profit in the third quarter.

And this means that for the first time all the three next generation gaming consoles are finally making money for their manufacturers. Microsoft recently posted profits in their gaming division as well.

Sony said that their operating income came to 12.9 billion yen compared to an operating loss of 54.2 billion yen in the same period previous year.

They gained from reducing the cost of manufacturing the Playstation 3 gaming console. The company also gained from the improved sales of their updated Playstation Portable handheld console.
