PlayStation 3 should gain market share this year
Market research firm iSuppli has said that they believe that Sony is going to have a good year and they would double its installed base of the Playstation 3 console in 2008.
Sony has been struggling in the videogame console market as they had to launch PS3 at a high price due to the inbuilt Blu-Ray drive.
However, that decision is paying now as the format is dominating the rival HD DVD format in the market mostly due to the installed base of the PS3 console.
iSuppli said in its report that they believe Sony to sell close to around 10 million units of PS3 this year.
Nintendo is likely to dominate the market however with its Wii with sales of around 12.2 million units.
The report further said that Microsoft would drop to third spot with sales of 7.5 million units of the Xbox 360 console.
