Microsoft Xbox 360 failure rate around 16.4 percent
SquareTrade is an independent warranty provider and the company has now said in a report that as per their research the failure rate of the Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console is much higher than what the company claims.
SquareTrade said that the 16.4% of all Xbox 360 consoles are likely to fail with some error or the other.
Microsoft claims on their part that the failure rate for this console is around 3%.
Incidentally, this is however still much less than what the retailers usually claim. Their claims are that around a third of all Xbox 360 console fail due to some hardware related problems.
SquareTrade CEO Steve Abernethy further said on their findings: “It is reasonable to believe these failure rates will increase over time, since the Xbox 360 failure issues tend to increase with prolonged use where overheating appears the main culprit.”
