Sony Playstation 3 outsells Playstation 2 in January

Sony had a very good month in January as for the first time ever they managed to sell more PS3 units compared to PS2.

In fact the console even managed to outsell the competing Microsoft Xbox 360 console.

Market analysts believe that now that Blu-Ray format has won the war against the HD DVD format, Sony would now gain more in the coming months.

Playstation 3 remains the cheapest way to get a Blu-Ray drive and the sales are likely to get a boost now.

Toshiba has just confirmed that they are discarding the HD DVD format which was designed to take on the Sony’s Blu-Ray format.

Sony still has no challenge to the Wii with their Playstation 3 console. Nintendo Wii continues to remain the best selling gaming console in the market.
