Microsoft Xbox 360 HD DVD drive dead
Microsoft has confirmed that they are now killing the HD DVD drive add-on for their Xbox 360 gaming console.
This was expected as Toshiba has already confirmed their exit from this format conceding defeat to Sony and their Blu-Ray media format.
Incidentally, Microsoft had recently dropped the prices of the drive apparently to clear up the stock without informing the users of this possibility.
The company would now stop manufacturing the drive. They have also not confirmed on whether they plan to offer a Blu-Ray attachment for the Xbox 360.
Xbox 360’s rival console Playstation 3 comes with an internal Blu-Ray drive making it one of the cheapest ways to get this drive to play the high definition media DVDs.
