Microsoft not working on Blu-Ray drive for Xbox 360
Rumors in the market stated that Microsoft was in talks with Sony to develop a Blu-Ray drive add-on for their Xbox 360 gaming console.
The company has categorically stated that no such thing is happening currently.
A Microsoft representative said: “Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience.”
Microsoft has already stopped manufacturing the HD DVD drive for the console after Toshiba announced their exit from this market.
The company aims to keep its focus on enhancing the digital download facility to make up for the loss of a high definition drive add-on.
Microsoft said: “We’re the only console offering digital distribution of entertainment content.”
The company added about competition from Sony Playstation 3: “We still think we have a great value, that we have significantly better value than Sony. Every month we’ve actually been in stock we’ve outsold them by a 2 to 1 margin.”
