Microsoft is wooing Japanese gamers to its upcoming Xbox 360
Microsoft’s biggest challenger to its upcoming next generation gaming console Xbox 360 is Sony PlayStation 3. And they know that to beat them, it is important to generate huge sales of Xbox 360 in Sony’s domestic market Japan. The company is now putting in extra efforts to woo the Japanese gamers for their upcoming gaming console due to be launched later this year.
Microsoft is hoping to not repeat the disappointing performance of Xbox when it was originally launched in Japan. They have now revealed 45 game titles to be available for Japanese users of the new console. They believe that the lack of games appealing to the Japanese customers was the prime reason for disappointing sales of Xbox in Japan.
Peter Moore, Microsoft’s vice president in charge of Xbox marketing said in a statement: “I’ve always said that Japan is a vitally important market for the Xbox platform. I know that the success in this country is the ultimate tribute to the compelling power of our new platform.” He was speaking at the event to introduce upcoming games for the console.
Some of the game developers involved in the making of games for Xbox 360 includes Square Enix Co. Ltd., Electronic Arts Inc., and Namco Ltd. In all 38 companies are involved in the development of these 45 games targeting the Japanese audience. In addition to day, the company claimed that more than 100 titles are also under works for the Xbox 360.
The company also managed to lure the makers of Final Fantasy series to develop a version for the Xbox 360 console. This happened after Microsoft agreed to the condition from the Square Enix to let the users to play against opponents connected via personal computers in addition to other Xboxes.
