Success of Movie and TV Editions Demonstrate Consumer Interest in Casual Mobile Trivia Games and Networked Content

Namco Networks, a leading publisher of mobile games and entertainment for mass-market consumers, today announced that consumers have downloaded and played more than 17 million questions from Namco Networks’ Scene It? mobile game franchise, including both Scene It?® Movie Edition and Scene It?® TV Edition.

Namco Networks’ Scene It? franchise features access to thousands of original trivia questions, including questions with video clips, audio clips and images from popular TV shows and movies, as well as downloadable themed question packs that change weekly. The near endless collection of questions, as well as the opportunity for players to compare scores nationwide, contribute to the appeal of the game franchise for mobile consumers and demonstrates the viability of networked gaming content.

“There is no question that casual trivia titles fit nicely on the mobile platform and Namco Networks recognized that the popular Scene It? DVD board game series would make for quality, fun mobile titles,” said Scott Rubin, vice president of sales and marketing, Namco Networks. “The Scene It? mobile game franchise is a perfect example of how the networked nature of cell phones can be leveraged to create fun game play. It is also an example of how Namco Networks applies new technologies such as networked features when it makes sense to enhance game play.”

Launched by Namco Networks in Nov. 2007, Scene It? TV Edition features challenging and fun trivia questions based on popular TV shows including everyone’s favorite shows from classics such as “Happy Days,” “Miami Vice” and “Alf,” to the hottest shows on TV such as “Heroes,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “American Idol.” Namco Networks launched Scene It? Movie Edition just over a year ago, and it was the first mobile game in the United States to incorporate streaming video into game play. Based on Screenlife’s hit DVD board game, the movie edition lets players relive their favorite movie moments from some of Hollywood’s hottest films through entertaining trivia.
