Event Open to All Call of Duty 2 Users

Xfire, one of the fastest growing online gaming communities and Exent Technologies, the market leader in establishing additional release windows for video games, have teamed to offer in-game, interactive, treasure-hunt tournament to Call of Duty 2 users, leveraging Exent’s AdMuse® technology.

Xfire and Exent have utilized AdMuse to insert “secret codes” (embedded inside various maps’ textures) to Call of Duty 2 without any changes to the game’s source code. Thus, all users of the popular game can participate in the event.

Exent’s AdMuse technology makes it easy for advertisers and marketers to insert new graphic, audio and video objects into games, at any stage of the production cycle, even after the game has been installed on the end-user’s machine, without any code changes.

“Advertising sponsored video game events are a very powerful way to reach young, coveted demographics. However, development costs are high and there is no guarantee that the end product is something people will want to play,” said Zvi Levgoren, CEO, Exent Technologies. “With AdMuse, there is no need for game developer involvement, and one can create such promotions to existing, active install bases, rather than bet on the attractiveness of a new advergame.”

The promotion, offered through Xfire, requires gamers to play through the first five missions of Call of Duty 2’s single player campaign and locate secret codes placed by the Xfire team. Once located, those codes need to be submitted to Xfire for a drawing to win copies of Call of Duty 4 (PC).

“We are excited about the opportunity to offer advertisers effective means to reach core demographics,” said Adam Boyden, general manager, Xfire. “We have millions of users that are actively playing an assortment of games, and we are delighted to be able to offer them additional value and the ability to win prizes through a fun, exciting and unique experience.”

The promotion can be found at www.xfire.com/cms/xf_exent/.
