Nintendo WiiWare service launched
Japanese videogame console maker Nintendo has now launched their much awaited WiiWare service.
This service would enable the owners of Nintendo Wii gaming consoles to purchase and download games online.
This online service from Nintendo would provide the much needed alternative to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade and Sony’s PlayStation Store.
Nintendo spoke about this service launch: “By reducing the barriers that make console game development prohibitively expensive. WiiWare showcases original ideas in the most democratic environment in industry history.”
Nintendo Executive Vice President Cammie Dunaway added: “WiiWare is to the game industry what independent films are to Hollywood.”
Market sources say that Nintendo itself has around 100 games in development for WiiWare.
