Sony might delay Playstation 3 if it gets the opportunity
Market experts Morgan Security claims that as per their studies, Sony might delay the launch of their upcoming Sony PlayStation 3 gaming console until the year 2007. However, it might only happen if the conditions are right for the company to do so. And one of these conditions would be a failure for the competition Microsoft’s Xbox 360 gaming console.
The console is expected to be a great success. However, the more important part would be the availability of the content for the Xbox 360. Without the content, which can make use of the newly launched hardware, the console would be a failure nonetheless. Microsoft has announced big plans for the games, which would be available for their upcoming gaming console. However, time will tell if that goes on as well as Microsoft expects it to.
Sony has other plans to counter the launch of the Xbox 360 gaming console. One of the rumors in the market is that they would slash the pricing of their current best seller Playstation 2 to just 99 dollars when Xbox 360 arrives in the market. Microsoft cannot afford to go down anymore on their consoles considering they are already making a huge loss on their current sticker price.
If it indeed happens that good quality content is not available for the Xbox 360 when it arrives in the market later this year, Sony is expected to delay their own launch of PS3 to 2007 so that their developers would have enough time to overcome the difficulties of working with the CELL processor.
