Analysts believe Microsoft would sell 1.6 million Xbox 360 units this year
Analysts at Piper Jaffray have released study reports according to which Microsoft could sell as many as 1.6 million Xbox 360 units before the year ends. Bulk of these units are expected to land in the United States with estimates at around a million units. Europe may get as few as 400,000 units by January ‘06 while Japan would get even fewer units at 200,000.
These figures were reported by the media group Forbes and the report said that Microsoft would be positioning the launch in November for United States and Europe. Japan would get the Microsoft Xbox 360 a couple of weeks later. The problem for the European market is not expected to be lack of demands… in fact; the researchers claim that Microsoft would be failing short of completing the supplies to meet the demands from the customers.
The analysts also believe that the launch would see the release of at least 15 gaming titles for this next generation gaming console from the world’s largest software manufacturer. This number is expected to rise to around 30-40 by the end of the year to complement the launch period and entice the user into purchasing a unit for them. The prices for these games are expected to be quite high compared to current standard for console games at around $59.99 per unit.
Piper Jaffray also expected the base level version of the gaming console to sell for around USD 299 with an enhanced and accessory packed version selling for around $399. Microsoft has itself not released an official price figure for their upcoming gaming console. They have just said that the console would land in this year itself.
