Grand Theft Auto IV fails to boost console sales
Take-Two seems to be the lone gainer from the sales of the recently launched Grand Theft Auto 4 game.
The launch of the game failed to boost the sales of two consoles it supports.
Sales of both Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 were normal and did not show any special gain for the month of May.
Colin Sebastian of Lazard Capital Markets spoke about their research: “We do not believe the recent release of GTA IV has generated meaningful incremental demand for the Xbox 360 or PS3 platforms.”
Another analyst Michael Pachter said: “Next generation console unit sales are running well ahead of the level in the analogous period of 2003 implying room for significant sales growth as price cuts are implemented.”
Sony is now hoping for some magic from the upcoming title Metal Gear Solid 4.

I’m not sure that Sony needs to hope on this one…it’s possible that those PS fans who want GTA badly enough to purchase a PS3, are waiting for the MGS4 bundles as well. They’re creating quite a stir on Amazon for sure.
