Sony Playstation 3 to get Life with Playstation service

Japanese videogame console maker Sony has announced a new non-gaming service named ‘Life with Playstation’ for the owners of the PS3 gaming consoles.

Kaz Hirai, president of Sony Computer Entertainment said in a statement about this new service: “By utilizing the full processing power of the PlayStation 3, ‘Life with PlayStation’ will bring unique content centering on two axis, place and time.”

The service would feature a globe as the UI which could be spun by the user to reveal the different regions of the world.

It could be used to check out the current weather conditions and news headlines connected to the cities located on the globe itself.

Sony said that the globe would feature weather satellite image showing the cloud patterns above the planet.

Hirai added: “For the primary version the application sticks to the present time but in the future we plan to build a system that can visually present stored photos and movies according to their recorded time and place, allowing users with their friends and family to enjoy the visuals in chronological order.”
