Sony might bring video and audio messaging to Playstation Portable

Entertainment giant and the maker of the popular Playstation series of videogame machines, Sony is said to be developing solutions to bring video and audio messaging to Playstation Portable. The company just recently released a software update to their portable gaming solution Sony PSP that enabled the device to run a web browser and many other utilities helping the user to make the device a multipurpose gadget.

One of the additions expected to come in the future releases is a camera enabled Sony Playstation portable. SCE software platform development boss Izumi Kawanishi was speaking to a media group when he said: “We’re currently considering (bring email capabilities to Sony PSP), but we want to think over the fundamental concept behind e-mail. We think it would be great if people could communicate together with the use of video and voice.”

These comments have led to rumors about the possibility of Sony launching an EyeToy style accessory for the PSP, which could add on a camera and a microphone to the gaming device. Another rumored possibility is the addition of capabilities to stream videos from the Internet to the Sony PSP. However, there are several technical hurdles to cross for the company before such things can see the daylight.
