PlayStation 3 unlikely to see a price cut
Sony has said that they have no plans to cut the price of the Playstation 3 gaming console.
The company has made huge losses and they are now aiming to reach profitability. Even if it comes at the expense of low sales of the console itself.
Company’s chief financial officer Nobuyuki Oneda said in a statement: “This year, our strategy is not to sell more quantity for PS3 but to concentrate on profitability. Our plan is not to reduce the price.”
This comes after the reports in the media that rival console maker Microsoft is scheduled to cut the price of their Xbox 360 gaming console.
Sony is due to launch a series of high profile exclusive titles for the PS3. This should get them the numbers when it comes to gaming software. This is what makes most of the money for them. Consoles are usually sold at a loss anyways.
